Mi Casa de Angeles’ Benefit Fashion Show

For the benefit of “Mi Casa de Angeles“, Gabriella Brignardello presents:

Gabriella‘s mission: “I want to improve education and empower children in impoverished areas throughout Peru.”

For the purpose of raising funds to create schools and support a higher quality of education in impoverished areas throughout Peru. Gabriella Brignardello is the founder of mi Casa de Angeles since 2009. The inspiration for creating this non-profit organization came to Gabriella at a very early age while visiting Peru and witnessing the hardships that many destitute children faced on a daily basis. She immediately realized that she wanted to make a change in these children’s lives.

How you can get involved:

Part of Mi Casa de Angeles‘s mission is to enthuse other youth in my local community and in the Peruvian community to become involved in my project or take an active role in a project that they are passionate about. So far, she has inspired many of her peers to become active members of Mi Casa de Angeles by volunteering consistently for our fundraisers.

About young Gabriella:

Gabriella Brignardello was born in California, U.S.A. in 1994. Her mother is English and her father is from Lima, Peru. Since birth, Gabriella and her family have visited Peru on a yearly basis, keeping strong ties and relationships with other family members and their Peruvian culture. Gabriella, from an early age, has felt a deep connection to her Peruvian heritage.

It was on Christmas Eve 2004, after attending Mass at the Santa Maria Chapel in Lima, that Gabriella was surrounded on the Church steps by several young children who were begging for money and food. Knowing that she was now going to return to a warm family home with a delicious Christmas feast and lots of presents, Gabriella was struck with emotions of sadness and guilt. She asked her father with tears brimming in her eyes, “How could I be so lucky and these kids have nothing?” That moment planted the seed of her quest to make a difference in the lives of needy children in Peru.

Keller Williams RED DAY at Westlake Village, CA

Posted by: The Curtiss Team News | May 23, 2011

Keller Williams RED DAY EVENT was a success!!

Thursday, May 12, 2011 - Keller Williams associates took the day off – but hardly was a day of rest. We wore red t-shirts to represent the event. As part of the RED Day venture, Keller Williams Realty associates of Westlake Village donated can foods for the Conejo Valley Food Bank Manna. We serviced a few communities in the surrounding area of Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks.  A group of our associates, families & friends painted walls & rails at Many Mansions (government subsidized housing). Others dug and planted trees at a vacant lot of Acorn Acre Park in Thousand Oaks Park. Some help plant flowers and cemented plaques at The Wellness Community in Westlake Village, CA. At our Keller Williams office, our volunteers made blankets and stuffed toiletries in bags for the My Stuff Bags Foundation. We collaborated with our vendors, contractors, area suppliers as well. Vendors such as: Scott Gilman & Mark Cavaretta of Prospect Mortgage, Kathy Mills of Outwest Escrow, Michael Frank of Chicago Title, Lisa Anglin of Fidelity National Title, Shannon Bloomer of Ticor Title, Kara Wilkins of  First American Home Warranty, Andy Geesen of Farmers Insurance, Kevin Marsden of Summit Termite, Paul Lantos of Lantos Home Inspections, Scott Peterson & Aaron Steed of Meathead Movers were amongst the volunteers who also provided snacks & materials to the volunteers.

RED Day, short for “Renew, Energize and Donate” Red Day was made to bond Keller Williams Realty offices and associates in an international day of service. Last year, RED Dayof 2010, 25,000 Keller Williams associates all over North America contributed in activities ranging from doing yard work in neighborhoods in need of restoring gardens to helping elders in nursing homes. Associates across the nation spent their day off by giving back as part of the company’s community service initiative. RED Day has become an encouragement for the volunteers and is a day that is looked forward to with enthusiasm. The number of associates that get involved increases every year and more is done to develop areas of local communities.

“As busy as our lives are, it is important to turn off the phone, step away from the office and give back to the community that supports our agents and offices. We feel so fortunate to have associates that don’t see this as a dollar lost in a day off from work, but much more gained in the community.” ~ Mark Willis, CEO of Keller Williams Realty, Inc.

“Our culture is what defines us as a company and part of that means taking time to remember what is most important, our communities. I am so proud to see how our associates have adopted RED Day and are making an incredible difference across North America.” ~ Mo Anderson, vice chairman with Keller Williams Realty, Inc.

Living in Lake Front Homes… Ahhh! permanent vacation!

Picture waking up to a vision of shimmering water! Imagine the fun you will have entertaining your friends in a charming lakeside home located in the prestigious, Westlake Village. Here you can enjoy boating, fishing, local restaurants (that you can sail to!) and shopping. Lake Sherwood is a non-integrated area in the Santa Monica Mountains, in Ventura County, California overlooking the lake of the same name. It is south of the city of Thousand Oaks, and west of Westlake Village. Lake Sherwood has 660 residences and consists of two main parts- a gated community of large homes adjoining the lake, as well as various replication developments in the immediate hills but not in the actual “Lake Sherwood” development. The vicinity is almost entirely residential, most residents using neighboring Thousand Oaks or Agoura Hills for commercial needs. Lake Sherwood offers a way of life rich in tradition, serenity, and natural harmony, to be shared, enjoyed, and protected.

The Lake Sherwood area abounds in natural beauty and recreational opportunities to nourish the human spirit and cultivate healthy families.  The history of the area’s inhabitants begins with the first Chumash village centuries ago, continues through the era of the Spanish land grants, then moves on to the period of the early ranchers and the first developers of the 1900′s.

The Hollywood lore that is sprinkled throughout Sherwood’s past adds even more romance and drama to this enchanting place. Now, our 21st century residents are making history here.

Among its famous residents was Hockey great Wayne Gretzky, who lived in a Georgian-style estate designed by fellow Canadian Richard Landry. He has sold the mansion, which was purchased by another sports-star, baseball’s Lenny Dykstra. Singer Paul Anka has moved to Lake Sherwood in 2007. Tom Petty and the legendary Pete Sampras used to live here as well.

Lake Sherwood is so called due to its use as the location for Sherwood Forest in the 1922 film, Robin Hood. The 1938 film, The Adventures of Robin Hood, starring Errol Flynn, also had a major scene shot on location at “Sherwood Forest”. Hollywood motion pictures used Lake Sherwood as a location for many other films, as well. A mock cliff was constructed for quite a few film serials, the lake was frequently used for motorboat chases and bordering forests were used for Tarzan and Jungle Jim films.

Short sale home of Actor John Schneider, Agoura Hills, CA

The short sale home of John Schneider sits in Agoura Hills, CA. He has listed it for sale at $2,199,000. The actor raised his threechildren on the 2.67 acres property, which has a creek that leads to the area where Dukes and Dr. Quinn were shot. The gated  property includes detached offices, a guesthouse, an outdoor entertainment centre, an infinity pool, a fenced pasture for horses and three-and two-car garages. He bought this Agoura Hills, CA home for $1.25 millionbut 12 years later, he owes about 10 times that amount. A title search showed two liens on the property. The home is about 7,000 square feet. It has soundproofed recording booth in the office. The 6,890 square feet property has 6 bedrooms & 9 baths, built in 1987. It is privately gated. The main residence has 5 bedroom, 5 1/2 bath, an English pub and a game room. The huge formal dining has a fireplace and lavish master suite.

The detached offices has a reception area that has a half bath, 1 bedroom, 1 bath guest house, pool, outdoor entertainment area with kitchen and fireplace. There’s 3 & 2 car garages and guest parking for 8+ cars. The actor, who currently appears in the series Smallville, also owns a house in Nashville, TN, a condo in Westlake Village, CA; and a few properties in and around Apple Valley, CA.

Keller Williams Realtor, Mark Moskowitz, who specializes in Agoura Hills, CA says that Agoura Hills, CA has become an attractive suburb of Los Angeles because of its outstanding public schools. And while the market in the area has slowed a bit for mid-range homes ($750,000 to $1million) because financing can be challenging, the low and high end of the market is doing well. Moskowitz also stated that the reason short sales are better for the bank is because in a short sale the owner is still living in and maintaining the home while foreclosures are sold empty and often get vandalized and overgrown and become hard to sell. Moskowitz also said that short sales with more than one lien, like Schneider’s, can get complicated but “on average, banks make 10 percent more on a short sale than a foreclosure,” so they will be more willing to work with buyers to figure out financing.
